Malaria remains the primary medical concern in many African countries, including Guinea, where almost the entire population is at risk of infection with an estimated prevalence of 15% among children under 5 years of age. Apart from conventional medicine, Guinean pharmacopoeia and traditional medicine are frequent uses in the management of malaria by families. In this respect, previous ethnobotanical surveys have identified and collected many medicinal plants in Guinea, including Terminalia albida, Desmodium velutinum and Rourea minor.
