Offshore structures are fabricated from tubes or circular hollow sections. Tubular joints which are created at the intersection of the circular members experience complicated structural problems such as stress concentration, ultimate strength, joint stiffness and fatigue life. Some aspects of tubular T-joints regarding joint stiffness and stress concentration are investigated in this thesis. The methods employed in these investigations are based on dynamic theoretical and experimental modelling techniques. Semi-rigidity of tubular joints leads to different results when compared with the common assumption of rigid joint analysis.
