Many Muslims have no wish to read the New Testament ("Injil") of the Christians. The real "Injil" went up into the heavens and what the Christians have is corrupted ("tahrif"). Goldsack here takes a 1905 work, the Munarat al-Masih of an Islamic scholar in Lahore called Mawlavi Chiraghuddin. Goldsack argued that in it Chiraghuddin rejected that corruption had occurred to the New Testament. The book had been transmitted intact down generations. Thus, insisted Goldsack, the Bengali Muslims could read the missionaries' New Testament as an authentic book from God. Sanskritized Bengali without many Arabic or Persian words.Title translation and description by Dr. Dennis Walker, Monash Asia Institute, Faculty of Arts, Monash University.Original ite...
