Phouk Chhay a left-leaning Cambodian intellectual served as a public servant and was also one of the leaders of the Gnereal Association of Khmer Students (AGEK) established in December 1964 and of the Cambodia-China Friendship Association established in 1965. He was appointed general manager of SONAPRIM, the national company for imports, was arrested in 1967 and condemned to death in April 1968 but was pardonned following the personal intervention of Queen Sisowath Kossamak. He joined the anti-Lon Nol resistance after the coup of March 1970 and became a member of the Cambodian Communist party in May 1971. He then served as Political Commissar and finally as personal secretary to Pol Pot in 1974. He was arrested in 1976 and executed soon afterwards. Various pages are missing
