Add to ORKGThis chapter considers the past, present, and future of clinical legal education (CLE). Reflecting on the history of clinical legal education in the UK and beyond, the chapter traces the rise in experiential learning to consider its role in both the promotion of the values of social justice and the educational benefits for students. It considers the place of clinical legal education within the law curricula and advocates for exploring new ways of conceiving how we deliver clinical programmes. The chapter offers insights into emerging trends in CLE and addresses the prospect of UK law schools' increased reliance on clinical programmes as a result of changes to the training and qualification of solicitors in England and Wales
