Forecasts of continued high rates of population growth for Australia’s major cities is placing increased pressure on metropolitan planning strategies for more innovative urban infill solutions. To slow sprawl, infill targets of 70% or more designed to accommodate new dwelling development over the next 25 years in the established inner and middle suburbs are falling well short of requirements. This presentation will provide a perspective on why this is not occurring and will update progress on research towards a new model for greyfield precinct redevelopment - akin to what was created for brownfields under the Building Better Cities Program of the early 1990s
