In-vehicle route guidance systems have become significant in alleviating congestion in urban transportation networks. This thesis studies the problem of real-time route guidance in stochastic time-dependent traffic networks. The contribution of the thesis is three-fold: i) the real-time determination of routes with minimum expected travel time for any connected origin-destination pair; ii) the real-time determination of reliable routes among all feasible routes of any connected origin-destination pair and iii) travel time distribution analysis based on real data and evaluation of proposed methods and other related methods
