From March 13th to August 1, 1864, Private Van Buren Oldham of Company G, 9th Tennessee Volunteers, served as a Confederate infantryman in the Army of Tennessee. During those five months he was one of many soldiers that participated in skirmishes and battles in north Georgia and the defenses before Atlanta
