Online student assessment - a preliminary evaluation of learning through article reviews

Teaching and learning in an online environment has led to the recent development of models to evaluate the ‘process’ of learning and provide opportunity for educators to reflect on practice. The objective in this trial was to identify the cognitive skills exhibited by the students in their article reviews and to reflect on the value of this online task as an indicator of students’ learning processes. Henri’s (1992) analytical model for cognitive skills was used for this evaluation. The full range of cognitive skills was evident across the group of second-year undergraduates studying eBusiness.
