The new landscapes of design research and practice include a range of methods and approaches, e.g. participatory design, to designing solutions to a range of wicked urban and health service problems. Co-design where designers and users work together through the process is a defining feature1. While such methods are relatively mainstreamed into design discourse the extent of their application to specific fields such as health or urban design remains under discussion. The complex and wicked nature of social issues to design fields broadly conceived, including management, social planning, and architecture, require desirable artificial solutions.
