The increasing use of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars encourages utilizing new fiber types, such as basalt fibers, rather than the commonly used fibers (glass, aramid, and carbon). However, extensive investigations are needed to evaluate the short- and long-term characteristics of these newly developed bars. This investigation aims at characterizing newly developed basalt fiber-reinforced polymer (BFRP) bars and tendons. The investigation included physical and mechanical characterizations of two different products of deformed BFRP bars (type A and type B) of 8 mm-diameter and one product of BFRP tendons of 7 mm diameter (for prestressing purposes).
