The present study adds to the current discussion regarding relations between self-regulatory process and academic achievement. We investigated whether behavior regulation mediates the relations between emotion-oriented strategies and mathematics achievement. Therefore, mediation models were tested cross-sectionally and longitudinally. Participants were (N=76) fourth graders (45 girls, 31 boys) in Time 1; and (N= 48) fifth graders (32 girls, 16 boys) in Time 2. Moreover, children’s mothers (N= 124) and teachers (N=29) from 11 primary schools in southern Germany took part in the study.
