Presents papers that were presented at the First International Thermal Spray Conference, which was jointly sponsored by the ASM Thermal Spray Society (TSS) and the German Welding Society (DVS), and cosponsored by the International Institute of Welding (IIW). This conference was the first full collaboration between three world-class thermal-spray related societies and brought together experts from academia, research, and industry from 35 countries to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing this industry now and into the 21st century
