Starting with a recently published set of journal commentary papers on Activity Theory, five areas of agreement across these papers have been reported. These, with five broad roles of computing professionals, are used to construct a systems model that is then used to examine possible future developments of Activity Theory in Western applications. The central issue addressed is the migration of Activity Theory from its Soviet communist origins and how the clear problems identified might be relevant to the interdisciplinary migration of Western philosophies, theories, methods and practices
