This paper presents results of a student survey which investigates factors affecting student impressions of non-introductory elective computing subjects. The surveys were completed by students in several selected subjects in the last week of semester, prior to them completing their final exam. The factors investigated include students' reason's for taking the surveyed subjects, their expected final result and their opinions on the subject assessment requirements and the quality of teaching. The results indicate there are strong relationships between students' motivations and their impression of subjects.
