The objective of this work is to study some properties, results and cryptographic applications of the elliptic curves defined on finite fields of different characteristics of $ 2 $ and $ 3 $. We show in an algebraic and geometric way that the points of an elliptic curve form an abelian group. In addition, the famous Hasse's Theorem was shown, which determines a dimension for the number of points of elliptic curves on finite fields.
