The primary objective of this thesis is to perform a cost effectiveness analysis of the various purchasing methods available to Dudley Knox Library on the Naval Postgraduate School campus in Monterey, California. The intent of the study is to identify the most cost efficient method of procuring books within the guidelines of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The research was conducted by reviewing current literature and interviewing persons acquainted with the various cost elements which occur when purchasing books at the Naval Postgraduate School. Approval plans were found to be the least costly way for a Department of Defense library to purchase books if the library was large enough to sustain an approval plan.http://archive.org/d...
