A flow visualization study of an oscillating, 1:350 scale model of the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) was conducted in a low speed wind tunnel, modified to simulate an open ocean atmospheric boundary layer. The theories, equipment and techniques employed in this study are explained in detail and an analysis of the photographic results is included in this report. Both the helium bubble and fluorescent minituft methods of flow visualization yielded excellent results and recommendations for follow-on studies are suggested.http://archive.org/details/visualizationoff00cahiLieutenant Commander, United States NavyApproved for public release; distribution is unlimited
