An introduction outlining the development of ship operations in close proximity for underway replenishment is followed by a survey of the literature dealing with the measurement of interaction effects between ships under such circumstances. A brief outline of the theoretical treatment of ship motions in open water is given and followed by the modifications to the theory required for treatment of the ship two system. The applicable equations are written for calm water and suitably linearized. The techniques of treating the differential equations as algebraic equations, and of" solving the equations by determinant evaluation are described,http://archive.org/details/investigationofs00cal
