This study explores the concept of trust and its relevance to deception operations. It proposes that trust is a belief or characteristic that can be exploited or undermined to achieve a desired objective. By using a trust framework to analyze several case studies in deception, the paper will examine how the deception target beliefs and preconceptions affected the success of the deception and the impact or consequences of exploiting or undermining trust. Finally, the study will attempt to draw conclusions from this analysis that may be helpful in the analysis of other deception operations and in future deception planning.http://archive.org/details/annalysisoftrust109454853US Navy (USN) author.Approved for public release; distribution ...
