One of the first indications that the soil is being harmed by vehicle traffic is rutting. Ruts can severely hamper soil functions and hinder vehicle movement. Rut depth formation depends on a range of soil properties (water content, bulk density, texture, and organic matter content), land use type, vehicle parameters, and number of passes.
