The Bearing Capacity of Piled Raft

Käesolev töö kontrollib väite, mille kohaselt vaiade kasutamine kindlates kohtades plaadi all vähendab võrreldes vai- ja plaatvundamendiga vajumisi ja tõstab vundamendi kandevõimet, tõele vastavust. Töö eesmärk on labor katsetulemustele tuginedes selgitada erinevused vai, plaat ja vaialus vundamentide kandevõimetes. Katsed tehti plaadi, ühe, kolme, nelja, viie ja üheksa vaiaga mudeliga Koormuste rakendamiseks kasutati hüdraulilist survekatseseadet Lukas LZM 25/200, millega avaldati vundamendile koormust kontrollitud siirde meetodil, kiirusega 1 mm/min. Katsed toimusid Eesti Maaülikooli konstruktsioonide labori liivakastis. Tulemused näitasid, et vaivundamendi kandevõime ammendus, kui vaiad saavutasid oma roomeläve, peale seda vajus vaivundament edasi ühtlasel koormusel Vaialus suutis kontrollitava vajumiga vastu võtta kõrgemat koormust, kuigi vaiade piirkandevõimed ületati. Tänu vaiade olemasolule hakkas plaat tööle hiljem ja seeläbi vähenesid vaialuse vajumid võrreldes vaiadeta plaadiga. Kokkuvõttes võib öelda, et vaialus suudab tekitada suurema kandevõime võrreldes analoogse vaivundamendiga.This study verifies the veracity of the statement that by installing piles at suitable locations below the raft foundation the resultant settlement will be reduced and overall bearing capacity increased, compared to pile and plate foundations. The aim of this study is to explain the differences between bearing capacities in plate-, pile- and pile-raft foundations, based on laboratory tests. A series on laboratory tests were performed on models of unpiled raft, single pile and foundations with three, four, five and nine piles. Loads were applied by a hydraulic loading unit: Lukas LZM 25/200, the tests were conducted in displacement controlled manner using a penetration rate of 1mm/min. The tests took place in the construction laboratory of Estonian University of Life Sciences. The test results showed, that the bearing capacity of pile foundations was exceeded after piles reached their yielding point, after that the pile foundation could not carry additional loads. Although the load capacity of the pile is exceeded, the piled raft foundation can hold additional loads with controllable settlement. Due to settlement reducing piles the contact pressure under the raft started to increase on higher applied loads, compared to the unpiled raft and therefore the settlements where reduced. It can be concluded that a piled raft can give a benefit in the bearing capacity over a similar pile group
