Political socialization of black children: an analysis of four black pre-elementary schools, 1973

The purpose of this study: The underlying purpose of this thesis is to find out whether politically relevant learning is taking place in the schools and if that learning that is taking place in the non-traditional schools is significantly different from that that is taking place in the traditional ones. The analysis shows that the political learning is significantly different and that different political beings are apt to emerge from the non-traditional schools. Further, the thesis shows that the kind of learning that is taking place at one school, the Learning House, is the kind of learning that is needed in "nation-building�. The main source of this analysis came from the response given to two different research tools. A questionnaire was administered to the teachers and the children were shown pictures of many different figures
