This descriptive study was done to determine how the interactions of black fathers with their children are related to their socioeconomic status and to their children�s scholastic achievement. Fathers with children attending a small, private black academy in South Fulton County, Georgia, agreed to participate in this study. Questionnaires were developed by the researcher to measure the father's socioeconomic status and his interaction patterns, and to obtain each child's grade point average. The fathers in higher income brackets scored lower on the interaction scale, with a Biserial Correlation of -.32.
