This study examines two child rearing practices in America and their impact on the self esteem of children during the formative years. It attempts to determine if there is a significant difference in the self esteem of children reared by parents in their own homes during the formative years and children placed in day care during the formative years. A comparative design was used in the planning of the study. The experimental group (those who had been in day care) and a control group (those children who had not been in day care) were used in the study.
