The new regulations and guidelines of energy management in buildings in the National Building Code of Finland became effective in July 2012. The new build requirements of the European Union Energy Performance of Buildings Directive were taken into account in the renewal of the regulations. The linear thermal bridges of building element junctions were included in the regulations of energy management in buildings. The aim of this thesis was to give recommendations of building element junctions which reduce total heat loss and are technically well-functioning in their heat and moisture behaviour.
