This master's thesis studied the opportunity for a power utility if it were to invest and own wave power technology. Wave power is a renewable energy resource that is currently totally untapped and holds a large potential. The technology to harness this resource is currently under development and this thesis aims to study would it be beneficial for the power utility and for the company developing the technology that the utility would be an owner of that company. The analysis is based on theory from industry evolution, technology development and corporate venture capital.
