Successful operation of an electrical utility requires good forecasts of the electricity demand. This thesis studies ways to create short term forecasts of the electricity demand based on historical data. The methods and models used in this thesis are generic enough so that not much needs to be known about the electricity load to be forecasted. The methods used in this work should be capable of forecasting electricity load of industrial operations or communal load. In this thesis Double Seasonal ARIMA models, Double Seasonal Holt-Winters method, and a Rhythm Regression model are used.
