As solar energy utilization becomes more efficient with time, it will eventually also become a more attractive alternative for producing energy. In Finland, the development of solar energy utilization needs to be supported and prepared for by adapting the urban environment and infrastructure to its advantage -a task that would belong to that of urban planning. Urban planners could secure opportunities of utilizing solar energy and further provide for improved solar energy yields by exploiting these when making plans.
