This thesis covers the special characteristics of multi-storey wooden buildings particularly those built with racking design in Finland and those that have utilized cross-laminated timber (CLT). In Finland there have been some issues regarding the design of four-storey high timber buildings. Strict room acoustic standards constrain the use of fasteners and in addition the low self-weight of the material demands large anchoring forces in the analysed racking design. This paper focuses on the element-based (cross laminated timber panels) construction of multi-storey timber buildings.
