This thesis investigates the use of multi-antenna transmission schemes in Long Term Evolution. First the basic features and characteristics of Long Term Evolution are covered. To provide basis for the measurements, general features of LTE and downlink transmission schemes are gone over. The actual performance of multi-antenna transmission schemes in LTE is measured both in indoors and outdoors. The main focus is on the different transmission schemes. The effects of different antenna configurations and carrier frequencies on transmission schemes are also investigated.
