The aim of this research was to find out, where the major inventory differences of Walki Oy's Valkeakoski factory derived from. At the starting point, only little information on the reasons of inventory differences was available and this information was fractured. In the experimental part interview, participating and non-participating observations as well as archive data were used as methods. With help of the methodology, a general view on the material flow was created and it was divided into sub processes. The potential sources of error were recognized from these sub processes and drawn into a flowchart. Corrective actions were created thereafter to remove the sources of error.
