Varastonhallinnan kehittäminen paperinjalostustehtaassa

The aim of this research was to find out, where the major inventory differences of Walki Oy's Valkeakoski factory derived from. At the starting point, only little information on the reasons of inventory differences was available and this information was fractured. In the experimental part interview, participating and non-participating observations as well as archive data were used as methods. With help of the methodology, a general view on the material flow was created and it was divided into sub processes. The potential sources of error were recognized from these sub processes and drawn into a flowchart. Corrective actions were created thereafter to remove the sources of error. The correction of the sources of error was started at the beginning of the material flow, then proceeding towards the end, so that the main focus was on the most significant sources of error. The significance was determined by estimates based on interviews and theory. The most important adopted corrective actions were the implementation of a locator system, the development and implementation of cycle counting, the reorganization of material management at the main production unit and the development of wall-to-wall inventory. The results of the research complied very well with the original aims. At the starting point there was barely information available on the reasons for inventory differences, but as a result the potential reasons were mapped. Further, it was possible to decrease inventory differences and reduce the need for resource demanding wall-to-wail inventory. This research constructs a good basis, on which an accurate inventory and material management process can be build in the future. The achievement of the mentioned processes requires further development and continuing and finalizing the started projects. The most important measures are the development and extension of cycle counting and the full implementation of a bar code system.Tämän työn tavoitteena oli selvittää, mistä Walki Oy:n Valkeakosken tehtaan suuret inventaarierot johtuvat. Lähtötilanteessa inventaarierojen syistä oli vain hyvin vähän faktapohjaista tietoa ja sekin oli hyvin pirstaloitunutta. Kokeellisessa osassa käytettiin metodeina haastattelututkimusta, osallistuvaa ja eiosallistuvaa havainnointia sekä arkistotietoa. Metodiikan avulla muodostettiin kokonaiskäsitys materiaalivirrasta ja se jaettiin osaprosesseihin. Näistä osaprosesseista tunnistettiin potentiaaliset virhelähteet ja piirrettiin lohkokaavio. Virhelähteiden poistamiseksi kehitettiin tämän jälkeen korjaavia toimenpiteitä. Virhelähteiden korjaus aloitettiin materiaalivirran alkupäästä ja edettiin kohti loppua siten, että pyrittiin keskittymään kaikista merkittävimpiin virhelähteisiin. Merkittävyys perustui haastatteluiden ja teorian perusteella tehtyihin arvioihin. Merkittävimmät työn perusteella käyttöönotetut korjaavat toimenpiteet olivat varastopaikkasysteemin käyttöönotto, kiertävän inventaarin kehitys ja käyttöönotto, materiaalien käsittelyn uudistaminen pääkoneilla sekä kausi-inventaarin kehitys. Työn tulokset vastasivat erittäin hyvin alkuperäisiä tavoitteita. Tilanteesta, jossa inventaarierojen syistä ei ollut juurikaan tietoa, päästiin tilanteeseen, jossa potentiaaliset virhe- lähteet saatiin kartoitettua. Tämän lisäksi inventaarieroja saatiin pienennettyä ja resursseja vaativien kausi-inventaarien tarvetta vähennettyä. Tämän työ rakensi hyvän pohjan, jolle voidaan tulevaisuudessa rakentaa tarkka ja järjestelmällinen varaston- ja materiaalinhallintaprosessi. Edellä mainittujen prosessien saavuttaminen tosin vaatii edelleen paljon jatkokehitystä ja tässä työssä aloitettujen projektien jatkamista ja loppuunsaattamista. Merkittävimmät jatkotoimenpiteet ovat kiertävän inventoinnin jatkokehitys ja laajentaminen sekä viivakoodisysteemin täydellinen implementointi
