Lämpötalouden kehittäminen Viikinmäen jätevedenpuhdistamolla

The aim of this Master's thesis was to investigate the current state of heat economy at the Viikinmäki wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), and to propose a preliminary plan to enhance its efficiency. At the Viikinmäki WWTP biogas is produced by anaerobic digestion. Biogas can be utilized for both heat and electricity production with gas engines. If the heat energy is insufficient to meet needs of the WWTP, then biogas can be utilized by using boilers to produce only heat energy. The aim is to utilize biogas with only gas engines. At the Viikinmäki WWTP heat recovery is also implemented from the hot aeration air, processed wastewater and from the digested sludge. The current heat recovery system reduces the heat energy demand of the WWTP considerably. However, further enhancement of the system is possible. Heat economy of the Viikinmäki WWTP can be significantly enhanced by investing to new waste heat boilers of the gas engines and by recovering more heat energy from processed wastewater, and from digested sludge. Moreover control concept of the production and consumption of heat energy and the instrumentation used to heat sludge can be well intensified. More research is needed on these subjects. To implement these development plans more accurate technological design is required. By the basis of the preliminary design it is feasible to invest in further research.Diplomityön tavoitteena oli tutkia HSY Veden Viikinmäen jätevedenpuhdistamon lämpötaloutta ja esittää siihen liittyviä kehityssuunnitelmia. Viikinmäen jätevedenpuhdistamolla tuotetaan mädätysprosesseilla biokaasua, joka käytetään kaasumoottoreilla sekä lämmön että sähkön tuotantoon. Jos lämpöenergiaa ei tuoteta arvioituun tarpeeseen nähden riittävästi, niin biokaasua ohjataan lämpökattiloille, jotka tuottavat ainoastaan lämpöä. Prosesseja pyritään kehittämään niin, että kaikki syntyvä biokaasu voitaisiin käyttää sekä sähkön että lämmön tuotantoon kaasumoottoreilla. Lämpöenergiaa otetaan talteen kaasumoottoreiden tuottaman lämmön lisäksi mädätetystä lietteestä ja puhdistetusta jätevedestä sekä kuumasta ilmastusilmavirrasta. Nykyinen lämmön talteenotto vähentää lämpöenergian tarvetta huomattavasti, mutta sitä on mahdollista tehostaa edelleen. Laitoksen lämpötaloutta voidaan kehittää huomattavasti investoimalla uusiin tehokkaampiin kaasumoottoreiden pakokaasukattiloihin sekä ottamalla enemmän lämpöä talteen puhdistetusta jätevedestä ja mädätetystä lietteestä. Lämmöntuotannon ja kulutuksen ohjaustapaa sekä lietteen lämmityksen laitteistosta voidaan todennäköisesti tehostaa merkittävästi, ja kyseiset kohteet vaativat lisäselvitystä. Kehityssuunnitelmien käytännön toteutus vaatii tarkempaa prosessisuunnittelua, joihin esisuunnittelun perusteella kannattaa investoida
