Išplovimų formavimasis šalia hidrotechninių statinių atramų potvynių metu, bei jų daroma žala, yra šio laikmečio aktuali tema. Atlikti tyrimai įgalina kompiuterizuoti išplovimų susidarymo procesą ir įvertinti, kokią įtaką hidrotechniniams statiniams daro įvairios trukmės ir dydžio potvyniai. Rygos Technikos Universitete (RTU) parengta kompiuterinio modeliavimo programa „ERoBo“. Programa gali sumodeliuoti išplovimų susidarymą ir apskaičiuoti jų parametrus, gylį ir tūrį, vieno ar keleto pasikartojančių potvynių metu. Tai leidžia įvertinti rizikos faktorius ir numatyti nepageidaujamus nukrypimus projektuojant ar eksploatuojant statinį bei užtikrinti, kad jo struktūra atlaikytų potvynių sukeltus padarinius.
