In the present publication the analytical and legal overview of the modern penitentiary legislation of the states, bordering with the Republic of Belarus, is given for the first time in the Republic of Belarus. The rules of law of the penitentiary legis-lation of the neighboring countries are analyzed by scientists who are not only the citizens of the respective states, but who are also well aware of the peculiarities of national penitentiary law and practice. Besides, current rules of law of the foreign penitentiary laws are considered by scientists in relation to the relevant provisions of the Penitentiary Code of the Republic of Belarus, which makes it possible to see the advantages and disadvantages of the respective penitentiary systems and practices. It is intended for prosecutors and other officials of criminal prosecution bod-ies, judges, advocates, employees of the penitentiary system, lecturers and researchers of legal professions, doctoral candidates and postgraduate students, undergraduates, students and cadets of legal educational institutions, as well as for persons involved in the legislative process.
