The share of dispersed generation, especially wind, hydro, solar and biomass powers is increasing in Europe partly because of a growing environmental concern and some reliability needs that some consumer have. However, the growth is limited by the market rules and the technical possibilities. This work shows those limits and examines the effect Demand-Side Management (DSM) can have on them. DSM consists in varying the consumers' consumption according to the situation. The work shows what possibilities already exist for DSM schemes, which ones are already in place and which ones are studied.
