Fuel cells are seen as new greener way to produce energy. Fuel cells types vary and suitable cell type depends on the application. Computer modelling has become a commonplace and modelling is often used when developing systems before coming in to market. This diploma thesis was made at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland as part of FINSOFC project. The aim was to model existing 5 kWe solid oxide fuel cell demonstration unit and verify the model against the measurements. The focus of this thesis is in the implementation of the system model with Apros -process simulation software and tuning the SOFC-module to correspond to the actual 1 kWe stack installed in the system for the commissioning.
