Power amplifier linearity is an important topic in today's communication systems, especially in wireless communications where amplifier distortion affects transmissions not only in the used channel but in adjacent ones. Generally, a power amplifier is more efficient when it is operated at high power levels. However, this results in distortion of the output signal. Therefore, highly linear power amplifiers are required for efficient wireless communications. The objective of this thesis is to provide the basis for performing accurate measurements of power amplifiers in order to obtain enough reliable data helpful to model their nonlinearity.
