In this chapter, sustainable development of fisheries, describes how Embrapa, in partnership with several institutions, has been working on the development of projects and actions to improve scientific knowledge and ocean health and increase the contribution of marine biodiversity to socioeconomic development of Brazil by means of artisanal fishing and related topics. In addition, actions aimed at raising awareness of small-scale artisanal fishermen on sustainable use of marine resources are mentioned
