The present article focuses on the issue of the development of social competence in pre-primary children in families with different education background. It gives an overview of Lithuanian and foreign educational scientists’ attitudes to the role of the family and the educational institution in the cooperation in developing social skills in children. Based on the results of the empiric research, the article presents attitude held by parents with different education to the development of social competence in pre-primary children.
