The Law of Associations (1980) governs philanthropic organizations (POs) in Israel, which puts some restrictions on the types of POs that can operate in Israel. The law prevents any PO from being founded that negates the existence of Israel, or anywhere this is a “founded suspicion” of being a cover for illegal activity. It is also allowed to prevent a PO forming if its name would “offend the public, which has been used to block many left-wing and Palestinian POs from forming
