The article analyzes the dialogue of Western and Eastern cultural traditions in Olga Sedakova's cycle The Chinese Travelogue. The image of the willow, present throughout the cycle, goes back to the "Tree of the World" archetype, absorbing both Slavic and Chinese shades of symbolic meaning. The structure of this artistic image embodies the notion of creative "compatibility" in its opposition to "rupture"
