This paper addresses different aspects of internationalisation of Swedish teacher education. The contextual, societal and curriculum perspectives are used to highlight complexity of international work in training prospective teachers. Evidence of systematic improvement of internationalisation was found at Umeå University. It is argued that an active internationalisation process can help to raise academic status of teaching profession domestically and internationally.Internationalisation of teacher education in Europ
