Tumour immunity is a balance between immune mediators that promote tumor progression versus mediators that promote tumor rejection. Infiltrating lymphocytes in human colorectal cancer tissues are independent prognostic factors for a better survival and a high number of cytotoxic CD8+ T-cells have been associated with a better prognosis in terms of a longer and disease free survival for the patient.
