For decades, Slavic people have faced systemic stereotyping by Hollywood filmmakers and TV producers. This thesis aims to showcase how exactly the Western media represents Slavic people using examples from movies and TV shows raging from the Cold war era to modern Netflix productions. It presents readers with two branches which highly influence the media representation of Slavs: Slavophobia, a form of discrimination which rose to prominence during World War II in Nazi Germany, and Slavophilia, a form of Orientalism which glorifies Slavs as unusual and exotic. The equalization of various Slavic nations, wrong use of the Cyrillic script and Slavic characters being reduced to stereotypes are some of the subjects analysed within the thesis.Slav...
