University students and their relationship with social media: An analysis of their habits, behaviors and reasons for use

La Web 2.0, están cambiando los paradigmas comunicativos tradicionales. Las redes sociales (RRSS) han transformando el panorama de las relaciones interpersonales, proporcionando nuevos beneficios y nuevas e innovadoras formas de interacción e intercambio de mensajes. Esta premisa sirve de punto de partida a la hora de articular el objetivo general de esta investigación, con la que se pretende conocer la realidad actual de los universitarios en cuanto a sus hábitos de uso, motivaciones y comportamiento en RRSS. Para ello se ha implementado la metodología cuantitativa de la encuesta mediante entrevista personal con cuestionario estructurado a una muestra de 669 estudiantes de la Universidad de Cádiz. En cuanto a las principales conclusiones del estudio, los universitarios utilizan las RRSS principalmente para divertirse, entretenerse y desarrollar sus relaciones sociales. Especialmente relevante es la preocupación que muestran por los aspectos relacionados con su privacidad, con los robos de identidad y el bullying en RRSSWeb 2.0, are changing the traditional communication paradigms.
