Asthma affects more than 330 million people worldwide, but many analyses have shown that there are still a lot of unmet needs for both patients and physicians in the treatment of asthma: poor adherence to treatment is one of the main causes of sub-optimal clinical results. Maintenance and Reliever Therapy (MART) with the combination of formoterol and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) has an established scientific rationale and demonstrated to reduce asthma exacerbations.
