Supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) was employed to fractionate thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.) extracts, which were obtained by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction of thyme leaves. First, different supercritical extracts were produced at 313 K and at different pressures (15, 30 and 40 MPa). Thymol, a monocyclic terpenoid with recognized antiseptic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, was identified and quantified in the different samples by GC-MS.
