Endometrial cancer is the most common gynaecological cancer in New Zealand and the incidence is increasing as the population ages. Genetic predictors of endometrial cancer risk that allow early detection of the disease are important for prevention and improved management strategies. Mutations in the mismatch repair (MMR) genes MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS1 and PMS2 are known to confer increased risk in a proportion of endometrial cancer cases, and the mutation spectrum includes copy number variants (CNVs).
