Alüminyum Titanat (Al2TiO5), düşük ısıl iletkenlik katsayısına ve yüksek ısıl şok direncine sahip seramik bir malzemedir. Al2TiO5, yaklaşık 1300 °C’nin üzerinde kararlı olan bir fazdır, bu sıcaklığın altında ayrışma göstermektedir. Ayrıca, Al2TiO5’in sinterlemesi süresince oluşan mikro çatlaklar düşük mekanik dayanıma neden olmaktadır. Mekanik özelliklerin iyileştirilmesi ve Al2TiO5 fazını ısıl olarak kararlı hale getirmek amacıyla çeşitli oksit katkı malzemeleri kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada katkı malzemesi olarak SiO2, MgO ve Fe2O3 kullanılmış, gözeneklilik, faz kompozisyonu, eğme dayanımı, mikroyapı, ısıl şok dayanımı üzerindeki etkileri araştırılmış ve ayrıca ısıl kararlılık ile ilgili çıkarımlar yapılmıştır.
